the purpose:
The First Nations Summer Internship Program has been created to reach and nurture mob studying in
caring for Country-related courses who are curious about exploring career pathways into the government sector.
what’s involved:
A paid 12-week internship that provides workplace immersion within DEECA (the relevant department and agreed location).
Meaningful and on-the-job learning and mentoring that welcomes insights, builds on knowledge and expands professional networks.
Cultural connections and strengthening provided by Aboriginal staff from both Wanyaari and DEECA.
A flexible arrangement, including start & finish dates and the Christmas/new year break.

Summer Intern – Policy and Project Support Officer (Bushfire and Forest Services)
The Policy and Project Support Officer will be part of the Forest and Fire Policy team within the Policy and Planning division.
The division is an important part of the Bushfire and Forest Services group, enabling the Department to efficiently, effectively and safely meet its forest and fire management responsibilities.
This role will support project management, policy development and stakeholder engagement and will provide advice to the government about the future use and management of Victoria’s state forests, balancing multiple forest values and uses. -
Summer Intern - Operations Project Officer (Agriculture Victoria)
The Operations Project Officer will work within the Operations Unit and report to the Higher Education Manager.
The Operations Project Officer provides support to operational projects in workplace services, procurement and portfolio management teams of the Agriculture Victoria Research, Operations Branch.
A key component of the role is to ensure that the Agriculture Victoria Research Branch’s scientific and research staff are provided with the support required to enable them to focus on science and research duties.
The intern will liaise closely with the Agriculture Victoria Research Branch’s staff and management and interact with stakeholders.
This role requires operating under direction, prioritising competing workload demands. delivering high quality and accurate outputs in a timely manner to agreed standards.
The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the branch. -
Summer Intern - Project Officer (Agriculture Victoria)
The Agriculture Victoria Project Officer will undertake at least one important research and evidence gathering project which will underpin policies to support industry development in a diverse range of matters including sustainability, circular agriculture, economic and sector strategy, workforce participation, boutique agriculture, etc.

This Purchasing and Procurement Internship provides an opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in public sector procurement and purchasing processes.
This role will support the procurement team in delivering value-for-money outcomes, ensuring compliance with government policies, and contributing to sustainable and ethical sourcing practices.
This internship also provides the opportunity to be part of the fast-paced operating environment of the Office of a Deputy Secretary and experience the broad range of activities that are delivers across the Corporate Services Group. -
